Lee Central High School 2024 Football Season Preview: A Year of Potential Triumph


As the 2024 high school football season approaches, there’s no denying the mix of excitement and pressure building in Bishopville. The Lee Central Stallions, fresh off their move to Class 1A, are stepping into a season that promises both opportunities and challenges. This shift could be a game-changer, positioning them as a dominant force—or exposing their vulnerabilities. Here’s an honest look at what’s ahead for the Stallions this season.

Starting Strong… Or Not?

The Stallions hit the road on August 23rd to face Timberland, a team that’s as tough as they come. Timberland’s defense is fierce, and there’s no room for overconfidence. If Lee Central brings their best, they could kick off the season with a win. But let’s be real—this isn’t a guaranteed victory. They’ll need to fight for every yard. The following week, they’re up against Burke, a team known for being unpredictable. Lee Central should be able to handle them, but only if they don’t let their guard down. A 2-0 start is possible, but far from assured.

Home Field Hopes

September 6th is the home opener against Chesterfield, and playing on their own turf gives the Stallions a crucial edge. The home crowd’s energy will be a boost, and if they’ve found their rhythm by then, this could be a solid win. But confidence alone won’t carry them. They need to execute flawlessly if they want to build momentum.

Then come the games against Hannah-Pamplico and Hardeeville on September 13th and 20th. These are winnable games, no doubt, but only if Lee Central plays with the consistency that’s often eluded them in the past. They have the talent to dominate, but that talent needs to translate into performance on the field.

October: The Moment of Truth

October is where the rubber meets the road. On October 11th, Lee Central faces Lewisville, a team that could very well hand them their first loss. Lewisville isn’t just good; they’re formidable, and this game will test the Stallions like no other. If they’re not at their best, they’ll walk away with a loss.

A week later, they travel to Lamar. Playing on the road is always tough, and Lamar is no pushover. This game could easily end in another defeat, bringing their record to 6-2. These two weeks will reveal the true character of this team. Are they contenders, or are they just riding high on early-season success?

Closing Strong… Or Crumbling?

The final stretch of the regular season starts with a home game against McBee on October 25th. After two tough games, this could be a chance to bounce back and regain some confidence. But if they’re still reeling from October, this game could be tougher than expected.

November 1st brings the final regular season game against C.A. Johnson. This one’s a wildcard. C.A. Johnson will be hungry for a win, and if Lee Central isn’t sharp, this could end in another tough loss, possibly leaving them with a 7-3 record heading into the playoffs.

Playoff Hopes: Realistic Expectations

A 7-3 finish would position Lee Central well for the playoffs, but let’s be honest—they’re not invincible. Their move to Class 1A gives them a shot at making a deep run, but only if they can stay focused and healthy. The October stretch will be the true test of whether this team has what it takes to contend for a championship.

Stallions fans have every reason to be hopeful, but they should temper that hope with realism. This team has potential, but potential doesn’t win games—execution does. With strong coaching, a dedicated roster, and the backing of their community, Lee Central has the pieces in place. Now it’s up to them to put it all together and make their mark in the 2024 season.
